Triumphal
Entry Into Jerusalem
It was the day before the Sabbath
Day, the eighth day of the Jewish Nisan month, that Jesus came to Bethany. And
on the Sabbath Day He went up to the synagogue and taught. And on the
morning of the first day of the week, He called His twelve apostles unto
Himself and said, “This day we go up to Jerusalem; be not afraid; my time has
not yet come. Now, two of you may go unto the village of Bethphage,
and you will find an ass tied to a tree, and you will see a little ass nearby.
Untie the ass and bring her here to me. If anyone inquires why you take the
ass, just say, ‘The Master has a need of her,’ and then the owner will come on
with you.”
And the disciples went as Jesus told them. They found the ass and colt near an
open door, and when they would untie the ass, the owner said, ‘Why would you
take the ass away?’ And the disciples said, “The Master has a need of her,” and
then the owner said, “It is well.” And then they brought the animal, and on her
put their coats, and Jesus sat upon the ass and rode into Jerusalem.
All
this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet. This was prophesied by King David in Psalm
118:26.
And
Jesus found a young ass and sat upon it; as it is written,
"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
Zechariah 9:9 (foal, child)
And multitudes of people came
and filled the way,
and His disciples praised the Lord. And many spread their garments in the way, and some tore branches from
the trees and cast them in the way. They praised God and said:
“Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah!
Hosanna!
Hosanna! Hosanna!
God bless
Him who comes in the name of the Lord.
God bless
Him who comes in the name of the Lord.
God bless
Him who comes in the name of the Lord.
We have
blessed Him in the name of the Lord.
He is the
King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”
Halleluyah!
Halleluyah! Halleluyah!
Hosanna!
Hosanna! Hosanna!
And
many children came with garlands of sweet flowers and placed them on the Lord,
or strewed them in the way, and said,
“All hail the king! Long live the king!
The throne of David shall be built again.
Hosanna to the Lord of Hosts!”
Among the throng were
Pharisees, who said to Jesus as He passed,” Rebuke this noisy multitude; it is
a shame for them to cry thus in the street.”
The Lord replied,” I tell you, men, if these should hold their peace the very
stones would cry aloud.” And then the Pharisees conferred among themselves.
They said, “Our threats are idle words. Behold, for all the world is following
him.” The Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were more interested in leadership
positions, in receiving public honours and respect,
than in knowing, teaching and enforcing the truth. They were hypocrites, who
were misusing and abusing the God’s thrones for the wise saints and true
ministers of God.
Correct Spelling And Pronunciation
Apostle Matthew: The correct way of praising g is by shouting, Halleluyah!
It is not hallelujah or alleluyah.
Explanations
The
Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were more interested in leadership positions,
in receiving public honours and respects, and in making money and accumulating
wealth, than in knowing, teaching and enforcing the truth. They were
hypocrites, who were misusing and abusing God’s thrones for the wise saints and
true ministers of God.
Jesus Weeps Over Jerusalem
As
Jesus drew near Jerusalem, He paused and wept, and said, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
the holy city of the Israelites! Yours was the glory of the Lord, but you have
cast the Lord away. Your eyes are closed, you cannot see the King; the
kingdom of the Lord of heaven and earth has come, but you do not comprehend it.
Behold, the day will come when armies from afar will cast a bank about your
way. They will surround you, and hem you in on every side.
They will dash you to the
ground, and slay you and your children in the streets. And of your holy
temple, and of your palaces and walls, they will not leave a stone upon a
stone, because today you spurn the offers of the God of heaven.”
Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,
saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the
things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For
days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you,
surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children
within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon
another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."
Explanations:
1. In the end time, many shall perish simply
because of general disregard for the end time messages and warnings from God.
2. And so many devout men and women shall miss
the haven, because of their spiritual blindness, ignorance and laziness.
Healing And Teaching In Jerusalem
When Jesus and the multitude had come
into Jerusalem, excitement reigned, and people asked, “Who is this man?”
The multitudes replied, “This is the king, the prophet, priest of God; this is
the man from Galilee.” But Jesus tarried not; He went directly to the temple
porch, and it was filled with people pressing hard to see the king. The
sick, the halt (those paralyzed, who cannot move),
the lame, the blind were there, and Jesus paused, and laid His hands on
them and healed them by the sacred Word.
Children Praise God
The
temple and the temple courts were filled with children praising God. They said,
“Hosanna
to the king!
The
son of David is the king!
All
hail the king!
Praise
God!”
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the
wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and
saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were annoyed, and said to
Him, "Do You hear what these children are
saying?"
And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read,
'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected praise '?"
(You have brought out perfect praise.)
And when the evening came, the Lord
and His disciples went again to Bethany.
Why Hosts Of Angels
And Saints Of Heaven Come Down From Heaven
Whenever Jesus Christ
was teaching, the Hosts of Angels came down from heaven to hear the words of
Jesus Christ, because He is the Lord and Master of the heavens and the earth.
They come down to hear his words and instructions, in order to know and abide
by what the Master says.
The Hosts of Saints
of heaven also came down to hear Jesus Christ speak, because His words explain
mysteries; teach new knowledge, which had not being heard before; and explain
ancient riddles, which had being sealed till the appointed time.
The Hosts of Angels
and Saints of Heaven came down, because heaven and earth are one, the kingdom
of God. And because many of them have various works to do while Jesus Christ is
ministering in the world. Usually, people do not know that Hosts of Angels and
Saints of Heaven do follow along wherever Jesus Christ goes and render many
important services to the glory of God and for the wellbeing of humanity.
Very importantly,
the Hosts of Angels and Saints of Heaven performed many deliverances on people,
in spirit, before the people are able to come close to Jesus Christ and hear
His Gospel of Truth and Salvation.
Childlikeness
1.
The children were doing the right thing, which is to
praise God for His goodness, mercies and wonders.
2.
The children were doing what the adults should have done.
3.
The children were doing what the religious and civil
leaders should have asked the people to do.
4.
The children are easily pleased with good things of life.
5.
They are not prone to being jealousy and greed.
6.
They are happy to praise and admire what is good and
beautiful.
7.
They have purity of hearts.
8.
They offer true
praise, because there is no deceit, grudges or malice in them.
Follow Jesus Christ
1.
Indeed,
the whole world should follow Jesus.
2.
So many
things shall continue to go wrong, until everybody does the will of God, by
following Jesus.
3.
All
those who neglect this simple instruction, do so to their own deceit and
detriment.
4.
In the
above bible portion, the Israelites were doing in the New Testament what God commanded
in the Old Testament, thereby proving that the Old Testament teachings and
practices are still relevant in the present and modern age.
And you shall take for
yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm
trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall
rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast
to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your
generations. Leviticus 23:40,41
Jesus Rides On A
Donkey
Apostle Matthew: Son of man, the donkey, where did it come from?
From where
did it come into the world?
The Head: Let God make us to know. There is animal
kingdom. Perhaps, it came from the animal kingdom, or from another world as it
pleased God.
Apostle Matthew: Yourself answered very well.
You
humanity do not know that the donkey was an angel of God?
The Head: Thanks be to God,
Apostle Matthew: The angel came to the world with Jesus Christ.
The Head: And it is this very duty that it has to do?
Apostle Matthew: Yes.
The Head: Thanks be to God.
Apostle Matthew: Son of man, his work was destined from heaven,
and not from this world. Son of man, the moment he completed his work, he went back
to heaven. The donkey disappeared. It was not a donkey raised by human beings.
The Head: In other words, it was the Angels that came
with him that were speaking to the disciples as if they were human beings here
on earth?
Apostle Matthew: Yes. They were Angels in the appearance of the
ordinary Israelites. They were not ordinary human beings.
The Head: The Angels were asking the question as if they
were ordinary human beings, so that the disciples would think that they were
speaking to their fellow human beings.
Apostle Matthew: Yourself answered very well.
Horse Or Donkey?
The Head: Some authors used the word, donkey, colt or
horse. Which one is correct?
Apostle Matthew: It was a donkey that Jesus Christ used in
moving into Jerusalem, as a king, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The
donkey was for carrying loads, because humanity carry loads, while the horse is
for war. At that time, people were using donkeys. The horses were for the kings
and his soldiers.
A person
going on a travel carries loads. The donkey carries more load than the horse.
Horse is for war.
More Explanations:
1.
Today, many people and families cannot obey this type of
simple command, to let the church or people of God use what belongs to them, in
the way that the owner of the donkey allowed the disciples.
2.
There are busy charging the ministers of God rents and
services, and forget to get rich and lasting blessings by rendering selfless
services and acts free of money.
3.
Everybody has some duties to perform in the house of God.
4.
Majority neglect these to their own deceit and detriment,
because many of their prayers are not being answered.
5.
Many are interested in God answering their prayers, but
they do not want to contribute to God’s work.
6.
Many youths today are having setbacks and difficulties,
because they fail to serve in the house of God. They do not sweep the
compounds, do not carry or set the chairs, do not fetch water or firewood, and
many do not contribute to projects and funds-raising activities. They come like
thieves, to steal blessings of God and go away.
Why The Mighty Have
Fallen
Jesus also said, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the
one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I
wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her
wings, but you were not willing! See!
Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the
name of the Lord!'" Matthew
23:37-39
Explanations:
1.
Because of this prophecy, the city of Jerusalem was
defeated and many Israelites taken captives.
2.
The temple of Jerusalem was destroyed, levelled down, as
foretold by Jesus. Only the Wailing Wall remains of the great and glorious
temple, as a testimony against Israelites and humanity.
