Psalms For The Holy Spirit
Psalm 24
A Psalm of David.
1
The earth is the Lord's and the
fullness thereof,
the world and
those who dwell therein;
2
for He has founded it upon the seas,
and established
it upon the rivers.
3
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord
And who shall stand in His holy place?
4 He
who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift
up his soul to what is false,
and does not
swear deceitfully.
5
He will receive blessing from the Lord,
and vindication
from the God of his salvation.
6
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face
of the God of Jacob.
7
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up,
O ancient doors!
that the King of
glory may come in.
8
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty
in battle!
9
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up,
O ancient doors!
that the King of
glory may come in.
10
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King
of glory!
Psalm42
To the choirmaster.
A Maskil of the Sons of Korah.
1
As a hart longs
for flowing
streams,
so longs my soul
for thee, O
God.
2
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living
God.
When shall I come and behold
the face of God?
3 My
tears have been my food
day and night,
while men say to
me continually,
"Where is your God?"
4 These things I remember,
as I pour out
my soul:
how I went with
the throng,
and led them in
procession to the house of God,
with glad
shouts and songs of thanksgiving,
a multitude
keeping festival.
5
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you
disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
6 my help and my God.
My soul is cast down within me,
therefore I
remember thee
from the land of
Jordan and of Hermon,
from Mount Mizar.
7
Deep calls to deep
at the thunder of
thy cataracts;
all thy waves and
thy billows
have gone over
me.
8 By
day the Lord commands his steadfast love;
and at night his
song is with me,
a prayer to the
God of my life.
9 I
say to God, my rock:
"Why hast thou forgotten me?
Why go I mourning
because of the
oppression of the enemy?"
10
As with a deadly wound in my body,
my adversaries
taunt me,
while they say to
me continually,
"Where is your God?"
11
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you
disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my
God.
Psalm 84
To
the choirmaster: according to The Gittith.
A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.
1
How lovely is thy dwelling place,
O Lord of the Hosts!
2
My soul longs, yea, faints
for the courts of
the Lord;
my heart and flesh
sing for joy to the living God.
3
Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a
nest for herself,
where she may lay
her young,
at thy altars, O
Lord of the Hosts,
my King and my
God.
4
Blessed are those who dwell in thy house,
ever singing thy
praise!
5
Blessed are the men whose strength is in thee,
in whose heart
are the highways to Zion.
6
As they go through the valley of Baca
they make it a
place of springs;
the early rain
also covers it with pools.
7
They go from strength to strength;
the God of Gods
will be seen in Zion.
8 O
Lord God of the Hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God
of Jacob!
9
Behold our shield, O God;
look upon the face
of thine anointed!
10
For a day in thy courts is better
than a
thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the
house
of my God
than dwell in the
tents of wickedness.
11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
he bestows favour and honour.
No good thing does the Lord withhold
from those who
walk uprightly.
12
O Lord of the Hosts,
blessed is the
man who trusts in thee!
