The Lawyers

The Rebuke
A lawyer sitting near remarked, “Teacher, your words are harsh, and then in what you say you censure us. Why?”
And Jesus said, “Woe unto you, you masters of the law! You heap great burdens on the sons of men, yea, loads by far too great for them to bear, and you will never help to bear a feather's weight yourselves. Woe unto you! You build the tombs of prophets and of seers. They whom your fathers have killed, and you are parties to the crimes.

And now behold, for God has sent again to you his holy men - apostles, prophets and seers. And you are persecuting them. The time is near when you will plead against them in the courts. You will spurn them into prison cells, and kill them with a fiend's delight (with delight in wickedness). I tell you, men, the blood of all the holy men of God that has been shed from righteous Abel down to that of Zacharias, father of holy John De Baptist, who was struck down beside the altar in the Holy Place - The blood of all these holy men has stained red the hands of this unGodly generation.

Woe unto you, you masters of the law! You snatch the keys of knowledge from the hands of men. You close the doors. You enter not yourselves, and you do not allow the willing ones to enter in.”

His words provoked the Pharisees, the lawyers and the scribes, and they, resenting, poured upon Him torrents of abuse. The truths He spoke came like a thunderbolt from heaven. The rulers counselled how they might ensnare Him by His words. They sought a legal way to shed His blood.

Explanations:

1.     In every society or constitution, the lawyers protect themselves with independence of the judiciary.

2.     They also protect and honour rich and wealthy, who often are evil men.

3.     They touch the guilty and influential men with few months of prison terms, but slam the poor, lowly and defenceless people with long prison terms and hard labour.

4.     They roar at the poor and lowly ones who committed a little crime, but dine and wine with the great men who still mission funds and drain the public treasury.

5.     Thereby, the lawyers are hypocrites and accomplices in various crimes, and still hammer the full weight of the law on the ordinary men, who steal kobos and insignificant crumbs.

6.     The worst of all, the lawyers neglect the laws of God, and enthrone themselves with man-mad laws and doctrines.

7.     They are quick and ready to defend the criminals, when what the lawyers should do is to make the criminals understand that the criminals are wrong and guilty.

8.     And they hasten to imprison many people for minor offences, which should have being peacefully settled outside the court.

9.     And the worst of all, they pronounced guilty many innocent people and have destroyed the life and destiny of such innocent people by sending them to jail.

Woe To You Lawyers

"Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and hinder those who were entering in you.”

Explanations:

1.     On many occasions, the laws are made without informing and enlightening the citizens. And without giving a grace period. Only for a person to be suddenly arrested, then prosecuted and jailed by a law that majority of the citizens are ignorant of.

2.     Inside the courts and in the legal documents, they confuse and intimidate the ordinary man with complex and difficult terms that not easily understood.

3.     The lawyers are called learned gentlemen, but they are spiritually blind, ignorant and lazy fraudsters.

4.     They do not enter heaven, because they fail to keep the commandments of God.

5.     And they sit in judgement over the saints of God, committing the saints to death and terror, just to please those in positions of authorities.

6.     They neither study the laws, precepts and statutes of God, nor teach the same to the ignorant multitudes, who are seeking for the Truth and kingdom.

7.     That is the way of the wicked people.

8.     They refuse to take corrections, and are quick to accept bribes.

9.     And they conspire against whoever that is saying the Truth.

10.            They do not go into the spirit, by quiet time and meditation, and by prayers, to determine who is innocent or guilty. They fail to ask the Angels for the true accounts of the cases they prosecute, which cases many people are ready to tell lies and fabrications, in order to win cases for which they are guilty.

11.            Most of them end up inside the hell fire, because they vehemently assail the light-bearers of the Truth, and cross-examine them about many things, lying in wait for them, and seeking to catch them in something the saints might say or do, that they might accuse the saints falsely, when all that is required and expected of them is simple obedience.
