Who Are The Evil Spirits?

The evil spirits include demons mermaids, ghosts, witches and black energies. All these are known as forces of darkness, and as principalities and powers.

They Come In The Midst Of Children Of God

Whenever the children of God gather for prayers or worship, the evil spirits also come. This   happened to Job.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. 7 And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?"

So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it." Job 1:6-7

What The Evil Spirits Do

          When the evil spirits come, they cover the entire venue environment or horizon with cloud of darkness. The darkness prevents the prayers of the saints from ascending to the throne of God. Also, the darkness makes those present weak in spirit, cause distractions and distress, and create false messages - visions, trances, etc, that are not from God.

          Therefore, it is necessary for people to pray hard and sing praises before ministering to the people. The prayer and praises open the windows of Heaven for the Holy Spirit to flow down. Then, Angels of God can descend and ascend to minister to the children of men. Again, the Consuming Fire of the Holy Spirit burns the evil spirits, sends them flee away from the venue.

          Moses had a frequent encounter of the forces of darkness and he knew how wicked and terrible they are. Fortunately, he had a way of defeating them. All Moses usually did was to call on God to scatter and defeat the enemies. Moses did this just by saying or chanting,

35 So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:

"Rise up, O LORD!

Let Your enemies be scattered ,

And let those who hate You flee before You."

36 And when it rested, he said:

"Return, O LORD,

To the many thousands of Israel."

Numbers 10:35-11:1

In the wilderness, God did not leave the people of Israel like orphans. The pillar of light and pillar of cloud were always present to lead, to protect and to defend the Israelites against the forces of darkness.

21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

Exodus 13:21-22

          The pillar of cloud or pillar of light was an Angel of God leading the way for the Israelites in the wilderness. The Israelites were seeing the Angel as the light or cloud because the Israelites were not spiritually awake, enlightened and experienced. A spiritually developed saint would have seen the Guardian Angel clearly in its real form, even face to face.

How To Break The Cloud Of Darkness

1.    Do what Moses usually did, by praying or singing,

"Rise up, O LORD!

Let Your enemies be scattered ,

And let those who hate You flee before You."

2.    Sound the trumpet to call down God as the Lord of Hosts.

The trumpet signifies victory from God. Joshua and Israelites soldiers pulled down the wall of Jericho, just by blowing trumpet, after marching round Jericho.

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet , and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

Joshua 6:20-21

16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. 19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. 20 Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. Exodus 19:16-20

3.    Light seven candles, which signify the Pillar of Fire and Pillar of Cloud.

The seven-candle light means omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence. It activates the victorious powers of God for His children. The candle light signifies the presence of God, who is omniscient and omnipresent.

"And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually. 21 In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the LORD. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel.

Exodus 27:20-21

4.    Ensure holiness by purification.

For details, see Purification Before Worship.

5.    Sing praises to God.

Jehoshaphat demonstrated the importance of singing praises in the Israelites’

war against their enemies,

20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

"Praise the LORD,

For His mercy endures forever."

22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. 2 Chronicles 20:24

6.    Consult God and obey the directives of the Holy Spirit.

David demonstrated the importance of consulting God, in every aspect of human life.

7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, "Please bring the ephod here to me." And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8 So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?"

And He answered him, "Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all." 1 Samuel 30:7-8

22 Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 23 Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, "You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 24 And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines." 25 And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

2 Samuel 5:22-25

7.    Use the Psalms of the Holy Spirit

I will love You, O LORD, my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;

So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Psalms 18:1-3

37 I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them;

Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.

38 I have wounded them,

So that they could not rise;

They have fallen under my feet.

39 For You have armed me with strength for the battle;

You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.

40 You have also given me the necks of my enemies,

So that I destroyed those who hated me.

41 They cried out, but there was none to save;

Even to the LORD, but He did not answer them.

42 Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind;

I cast them out like dirt in the streets.

Psalms 18:37-42

8.    Spraying Consuming Fire on the environment.

The evil spirits cannot withstand the Consuming Fire of the Holy Spirit. the Bible has examples for people to learn from.

24 Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom  and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. Genesis 19:24-25

The book of Revelation gives an example:

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 20:7-10
